Are you ready to say goodbye to 2020? It has been a challenging year, to be sure. There have been many ups and downs, and hopefully a few lessons learned along the way.

Lessons learned inspire fresh starts and we are all for that. What is an easy, but powerful way to make a fresh start? How about a fresh colour palette to take you into a new year!

Time for a Colour Bath

We might still be a few months away from the New Year, but now is the perfect time to reflect on what you have been through and how you want to press the reset button on life. Do you need more peace and tranquility in your days? How about waking up to bold inspiration to help you tackle what lies ahead? Or maybe you need a hue that rejuvenates you, while creating a sense of thoughtfulness? Didn’t know colours could do all that? Think about a bright blue sky on a fall day contrasted against vivid reds, oranges, and yellow leaves. Puts a smile on your face, doesn’t it? Or maybe that first glimpse of green bursting through last year’s snow in the spring? How is that for inspiration and rebirth?

Paint companies understand our visceral reaction to colours and try to capture that with a new colour palette every year. They reflect on what has been going on in the world over the last little while, and where our collective mindset lies. They present colours of the year in response to that. Of course, there are several different companies all doing the same thing and they don’t always agree, but it is interesting to see what they come up with. Should you jump on board with those colour trends? That is up to you, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to embrace a new look every once in a while. And 2020 has many of us looking for a change, so let’s look at what the experts are suggesting, shall we?

These companies have been in the colour game for a long time and know a thing or two about what works colour-wise. If these are the colours they are suggesting, it’s worthwhile thinking about.

Colour Palettes of the Year

Of course, we understand if you don’t want to paint your entire house in just one colour. That’s why some companies veer away from a single colour and instead present colour palettes of the year.

Does that offer you up a little inspiration? We hope so. Now the question is what colour should you put where? More importantly, which colour would look best in your kitchen?
