We have talked about individual components within the kitchen, but have you thought about the bigger picture? When contemplating a kitchen renovation, what decisions do you need to make? What exactly will it all look like? There are many decisions to make and keeping track of them all can be daunting. Our suggestion: make a kitchen renovation checklist to ensure you include everything that will be done and what you want the end project to look like. You might not change every aspect of your kitchen, but looking at the entire scope of work is important to keep everything on task and moving forward in a timely manner. That requires a plan.

As you can see, many of the decisions on your kitchen renovation checklist revolve around what colours, styles, and materials you want to include in your design. Not all though. This list doesn’t include appliances, wall colour, or other removable items, like art, seating (non built-in), or throw rugs. What else? That depends upon you. Whether you include them on your master list or mark them on a secondary checklist is up to you, but keeping track of it is important for the overall project.
Keep in mind that whether you go with a simple kitchen cabinet refacing project, a straightforward kitchen renovation, or a more involved kitchen remodel project, affects which of these items might be on your own personal checklist. For example, you might not include flooring or lighting in a refacing or renovation project, but all of these decisions and more could be on a more extensive remodeling project. You might even move doorways, plumbing, windows, or create a kitchen in a whole new area of the building altogether. The sky is the limit, making that master checklist an integral reference for your project.
